Sharyn Casey – Director
Sharyn Casey, Principal Consultant and Director of Real Options Consultancy Services. Graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Social Work in 1984, Sharyn has worked extensively for the past 3 decades as a practitioner, manager and consultant across the government, not for profit and private sectors.
As a practitioner, Sharyn has worked in a range of diverse areas including as a support worker in a domestic violence service, social worker in a children’s hospital, Welfare officer in the student services division of a number of Queensland Universities, client advocate in a state-wide peak body and a Child Protection Officer for the Queensland Government.
Ms Casey was employed by the Queensland Government for 15 years, with ten of those years as the Manager of the Funding programs Unit where she was responsible for the evaluation, strategic planning and implementation of program and service system changes in a range of human service programs across Queensland. As a result she has a high level of knowledge regarding public sector processes, social policy development and government contractual requirements, and a strong skill base in conducting evaluations and implementing change management strategies. During this time Ms Casey was also responsible for managing and participating in a number of state and national committees including the Problem Gambling Advisory Committee, Domestic Violence Advisory Committee, Supported Accommodation Assistance program (SAAP) Advisory Committee and as Chair of the National Case Management Working Group, which was responsible for the implementation of a case management system within the homeless services sector.
As a consultant, for the better part of 2 decades, Ms Casey has demonstrated particular expertise in organisational development across the community sector including working with senior management and community boards to develop and grow sustainable and quality organisations. This has included preparing funding submissions and developmental strategies responsible for growing one agency from an income base of $1.5 M to $34 M.
Ms Casey has also conducted program and state-wide evaluations and developed specialist skills in conducting Social Impact Assessments for the private sector, which comply with local government requirements.
